Important Message

During this uncertain time, Catholic Charities Appeal beneficiaries are continuing to do their part to help those most in need. Catholic Social Services, along with Nutritional Development Services, are both providing immense support to those impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The most vulnerable need our help to provide the very basics like food and shelter. Now more than ever, we need your support.

There are 16 Mission Parishes within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Without CCA donations, these parishes would not survive. These parishes are anchors in their communities.

Giving Hope to our Brothers and Sisters

Being a Pastor in a Mission Parish has many challenges. Our community has endured a lot of crime, poverty, and brokenness. We want to show the people that the Lord is the ultimate provider. We are trying to foster hope in times of despair.

We have a food pantry here in the parish that serves 150 households a month. In addition to Mass, we have events that reach out to people in the parish. We recently, started a Youth Ministry Program for our kids – we provide them with meals, learning opportunities, and a safe space to call home after school.

We have a new Evangelization Program we are looking to expand. We are trying to help foster people into feeling more connected. When people feel loved and cared for, their lives can go in a completely different direction. We are trying practical things that can bring our community together – food, fellowship, youth opportunities, and certainly Mass.

The Catholic Charities Appeal is helping to support this community and providing, for some, the most basic needs. Supporting people is a way to express your faith and truly evangelize.
